Sun, sea and sand, what more could you want...

LANZAROTE: There are plenty of options when it comes to the Canary Islands, the aim is to tick off every single one of them! But until then, it's time to explore the island of Lanzarote! Here are all my favourite places worth visiting...
Timanfaya National Park:
Timanfaya is a volcanic national park covering an area of over 50 square kilometres, entirely made up of volcanic soil. Head straight to the Islet Hilario,, the park's welcome centre which hosts demonstrations & a restaurant featuring food cooked with volcanic heat. Entry to the park costs €20 and the price of which includes parking, geothermal demonstrations and a tour of the Ruta de los Volcanes (Volcano Route) by Guagua (bus). The most iconic are: Montaña de Timanfaya, Montaña Rajada, Caldera del Corazoncillo, Volcán Nuevo del Fuego or El Chinero and the Calderas Quemadas. Click on the links below for more information...
Cueva De Los Verdes:
3,000 years ago lava flows erupting from the nearby volcano La Corona, created extensive lava tunnels that ran all the way down to the Atlantic Ocean. Cueva de los Verdes is a lava tube and now a tourist attraction; the caves extend for 6km above sea level and for another 1.5km below the sea. Tickets cost €16 and to be honest this is one of the activities in Lanzarote that really surprised me, I really enjoyed it! Click on the links below to find out more...

Jameos Del Agua:
Continuing on, the lava tunnels also expose an area called Jameos Del Agua; a unique volcanic tunnel & cavern that has been converted now to feature an underground concert hall, restaurant & salt lake. Entrance tickets here are also €16 and in my opinion it is not really worth the hype - this is one of the most popular places to visit on the island. Again, click on the links below to find out more.
Jardin de Cactus:
El Jardín de Cactus is the last great works of César Manrique in Lanzarote, a fascinating creation that houses about 4,500 specimens of cactus of about 500 species from five continents. This cactus garden has over 1000 species in a terraced former quarry, a café, and a restored windmill. It is definitely something different to do on the island, and for just €8 I would say it is worth it. Find out more information below:
Las Grietas:
Las Grietas, in Spanish, literally translates as “the cracks”. This is a formation on the side of the 600m-high Montaña Blanca volcano. 3 cracks have formed. The cracks aren’t very long, but they are quite narrow, reminiscent of a miniature version of the canyons in Arizona and Utah, and that's literally what it reminds you of. Las Grietas de Montana Blanca is a must-see on Lanzarote. It’s a place that’s still not very well known, and the crevasses in the slopes of the Montana Blanca volcano are magnificent.
Playa Papagayo:

Now this is the best place to come and watch the sunset, and even better have a drink or two whilst doing so. Playa Papagayo is a small inlet, hidden off the beaten track, near Playa Blanca. Playa de Papagayo is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for stunning scenery and a chill vibe. The beach is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters, making it a perfect spot for swimming and sunbathing...
Charco Verde:
El Charco Verde is a volcanic crater lake with a distinctive green colour due to algae and microorganisms. The famous Charco Verde is a well-known lagoon due to the striking green colour of its water. This peculiar shade of green is caused by an open sea crater where marine floras have started to grow, giving the water its unique colour.
Las Salinas de Janubio:
The Janubio Salt Flats offer visitors an insight into a unique spot, where they can discover how salt is produced through the use of man-made mechanisms combined with the force and support of Mother Nature. A wonderful combination in a unique setting surrounded by salt.

Sometimes all you need in life is just to relax...by the beach...
