Now you'll never miss out!
I am currently 28 years old, my birthday is March 13th.
I am from a small town called Hadleigh near Ipswich in Suffolk. It's in the East of England - to most people I say I'm from London as that's a lot easier to explain!
I am 5ft 11" (180cm)
Being a pilot and running a blog I spend a lot of days just sitting around, its my job! So I like to go to the gym, or go for a run and just grab some fresh air. I used to do a lot of sports when I was younger: Judo, swimming, long distance running, golf, rugby. I've played rugby for 6 years, golf I never really played on a professional level but it's a great past time! I've done a lot of long distance running events includings Cross Country Championships and Half Marathons - I really enjoy running, it just clears your mind of everything! And judo and swimming were my first sports I took part in, I competed in competitions and even won medals.
Anyone who knows me knows I love sweets! So does that count haha? Otherwise I would have to say Texmex, I'm a big lover of Mexican food!
I listen to all kinds of music. I like listening to chilled summer songs, songs that just remind you of summer and can turn a rainy day into a sunny one. I tend to listen to Petit Biscuit, Imagine Dragons, Halsey and Marshmello, they are some of my favourite artists.
Flying and working are obviously my priorities and I cannot change my schedule so I fit everything else around that. The days where I'm not flying I go travelling as much as I can, I live for the adventures and I am a complete wanderlust. I take photos and videos for my blogs and then edit them as and when I can. Usually I work on my blog when I have free time at home or when I'm at the airport waiting for a flight. I like to keep busy but trust me it takes a lot of time and dedication to keep up with everything, even I struggle!
As a pilot, ever since January 15, 2009 I've always been inspired by the acts of Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenburger. His thinking as well as everyone else's onboard was crucial to the safety of Flight 1549, and landed himself in the history books. I believe he's a very noble person but at the end of the day he was just doing his job, and he did that exactly perfectly. I'm also inspired by the work of Twosometravellers and Mariah Mcalpin. Both of their photos are absolutely inspirational, their feed is incredible and I recommend checking them out! Now I've found that special someone, I hope to take photos and make footage just like theirs!
From a very early age, since I was about 7. It has always been so clear to me what I have wanted to do in life and that's become a professional airline pilot. When I was younger my parents would take me to the airport and we would watch planes all day long. When I was 14 I joined the Air Cadets and had my first flight. I worked and worked and then finally after I was 20 I started my flight training.
I hold an EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence). The ATPL licence consists of a CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence), ME/IR (Multi-engine with Instrument Rating), ATPL Theory, as well as an MCC (Multi Crew Cooporation course). I also have PBN (Performance Based Navigation) and the UPRT (Upset Prevention Recovery Training), and the Flight Instructor rating added to my licence: with the ability to teach PPL, CPL , IRI, FI and Night ratings. With my airline experience I am Type Rated on the Boeing 737-300-900 series aircraft, including the MAX.
I did my flight training with FLYBYSCHOOL based in Burgos in Spain. I spent 17 months going through theoretical and practical lessons in order to gain my licence.
If you are wanting to become a pilot the first thing I recommend you do is get a Class 1 Medical - if you are unable to get this then unfortunately you are unable to become a pilot. Secondly do your research. There are a lot of flight schools out there and they all offer different things, find a school that suits you and gets you to where you want to be. Study. Becoming a pilot isn't the easiest process in the world, it takes a lot of hardwork and most flight schools actually have entry assessments in order to get in. And of course the biggest obstacle is financing it. You will probably find that to become a pilot can cost you between £60,000-£120,000, but don't let this stop you. There are plenty of ways around this; get a job, ask for some financial help, do some fundraising, ask some of your local charities for some help, and even get a bank loan.
I currently have about 4000 hours in total, and around 1500 on type.
My first aircraft I ever flew was a Grob Tutor T1 back when I was 14. Then when I started my flight training I was lucky to be given the opportunity to fly up to 5 aircrafts - Tecnam P2002JF, PS28 Cruiser, Piper PA28-181 Archer II, Cessna Skyhawk 172N and Tecnam P2006T (multi). Then when I went to do my MCC, I did this on the Airbus A320 simulator. With Ryanair I am currently flying the Boeing 737-800 series aircraft and the 8200 MAX.
This is easy, window every time!
I really do love my current company Ryanair and can see myself happily being here for a very long time, I can only choose them right? ;)
On a trip flying across Europe, I landed in Albenga in Italy. It was sunset and we were flying along the Italian Riviera. The approach led us to the mountains and nestled inbetween them was the airport. After flying along the coast, through the mountains, all at sunset and in a formation flight with my colleages, it was one of the best expereinces I have ever had.
You should check out my Destinations page and have a look at my interactive world map! But I've been to 38 countries: United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, United States, Belgium, Spain, Egypt, Greece, Portugal, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Italy, Ireland, Romania, Hungary, Malta, Switzerland, Morocco, Germany, Türkiye, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Iceland, The Netherlands, Albania, Monaco, Peru & Colombia
Visiting the Wonders of the World such as Machu Picchu, the Great Pyramids of Giza & the Acropolis of Athens, was an incredible experience! But for an overall country, it's between Iceland and Peru! Both are such beautiful countries with so many things to see.
That's difficult to choose! But I've narrowed it down to Budapest, Athens, Lisbon and Dubrovnik, but I don't know in which order!
That's a tricky question! I don't think there's a single place I want to go to more than any other place. I want to step foot on every continent - backpacking through Asia and South America, hitchhike to each of the 50 states of America, go interrailing across Europe, watch the sunset across the great African plains and see what life is like down under in Australia and New Zealand.
As a travel blogger I always carry gadgets with me, whether it's my laptop, GoPro, or camera. And of course my mobile phone is never more than an arm's reach away - I always hear comments from people on how quick my replies are but that's just because I work from my phone and I'm always on it!
I think it’s the same answer everywhere: breakfast. No meal is more diverse. You could be eating a freshly baked croissant in France, hot waffles drizzled in Canadian maple syrup or even bird’s nest–like pancakes filled with spicy curry in Sri Lanka. As a British guy I would be biased to say a Full English breakfast is the best - fried egg, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns, toast, and a grilled tomato. Perfect, (but without the egg for me)!
